It was with a heavy heart that Ozil broke his silence. He doesn’t understand why he is receiving such treatment from Arsenal. Things between Arsenal coach, Arteta and Ozil started off in an encouraging fashion but unfortunately Ozil does not feature in his plans. This is truly a sad fate for a top player who wanted to shine with Arsenal. Ozil continues to be a role model even away from the pitch by keeping up with his humanitarian work and classy behavior. Ozil had a message following his treatment by Arsenal and below is his message.

“This is a difficult message to write to the Arsenal fans that I have played for over the past few years. I am really deeply disappointed by the fact that I have not been registered for the premier league season for the time being. Upon signing my new contract in 2018, I pledge my loyalty and allegiance to the club that I love and it saddens me this has not been reciprocated.

As I have just found out, loyalty is hard to come by nowadays. I have always tried to remain positive week to week but there is maybe a chance to get back in the squad soon again and that is why I have kept silent so far. Before the pandemic outbreak, I was really happy with the development under our new coach Michael Arteta.

We have been on a positive way and I would say my performances are on a really good level       especially in my most recent appearance during  our 1- 0 win in the London derby against Westham  on March 7th 2020 but then things changed again and I was no longer allowed to play football for Arsenal. What else can I say?

London feels like home and I still have many good friends in this team and I still feel a strong connection with the fans of this club. No matter what, I will keep fighting for my chance and not let my 8th season at Arsenal end like this.

I can promise you that this hard decision can’t change anything in my mindset. I will continue to train as best as I can and wherever possible use my voice against inhumanity and for justice. Thanks for your support.”
