You probably know him as Dababy, but his real name is Jonathan Kirk, coming to this world in the early 1990s is one of the best hot rappers of today. He is only 29 but one of the biggest rap stars in the mainstream. He studied in Vance high school and completed his high school in 2010 after which he joined the University of Cleaveland at Greensbro, where he only attended for two years, then quitting to pursue his musical career. Kirk grew up drawing inspiration from great rappers of that time, like Eminem and 50 cents. Kirk, formerly known as Baby Jesus, started putting more work on his rap career in 2015, he then released his first mixtape,’ nonfiction’, followed by dropping mixtapes named, God’s work’, and then the controversial ’baby talk’, which both started attracting attention towards the rapper which is a good thing in the music industry. He then released two more well known mixtapes, A Billion dollar baby, and ‘Back on my baby’. He later renamed himself to Dababy

He met Arnold Taylor, who is associated with the South coast music group, who signed him after he saw the great potential which could be explored, he discovered Dababy after watching him perform at various clubs throughout the south. Kirk later signed to a short term agreement with Roc nation to release of his ’blank’ mixtape, propelling him to his mainstream breakthrough in 2018. Later, with the help of Taylor, he landed a seven-figure recording deal with the famed Interscope Records, a label greatly affiliated with some of the biggest names of this generation such Eminem, MGK, Billie Elish, and others.

In early 2019 after his signing with Interscope, he started his own label A Billion dollar baby entertainment. In March that same year, he released his first album recorded in a studio, ’Baby on Baby’, via Interscope Records, in which he collaborated with some big names in the game including, Offset, Rich the Kid and Rich homie Quan and others. The album debuted at number 25 on the billboard charts in America. Kirk also featured in a song with one of the best lyricists of this generation, J Cole in a song ’under the sun’, also featuring lute. The song was in a new album the revenge of the dreamers by Dreamville.

In September 2019, he released his second album Kirk, which topped the billboard charts in the USA, with the major single ’intro’ debuting at number 13 on the Billboard charts. His song, ’Suge’ received two Grammy nominations at the 62nd annual Grammy Awards in 2020.

He released his third studio album on April 17, 2020, named ’blame it on Baby’, which topped the billboard top 200. The album included the hit single Rockstar which featured Roddie Ricch. The song went to number one on the Billboard charts and is Dababy’s highest-charting song. Kirk is one of the best and greatest sounds of this time.
