Eating is just one healthy behavior in a healthycascade. Exercising regularly leads to better stress management and sleep which leads to better food decisions to more energy and less chronic disease. It is important to remember that eating is grand. Food enables our bodies to acquire good health. Let’s go ahead and start off with how you can eat better with just 7 steps.

  1. MAKE CHANGES GRADUALLY.

Many people want changes to happen fast so they dive in head first, eat nothing but healthy foods and they can keep this up for a while but as time goes on willpower will fade off and this leads them back to their starting point .You have to be patient with yourself and be dedicated as it is through these two processes that you can slowly and successfully make the changes.

  • KNOW SERVING SIZES.

Overeating is a major issue for many people. Having a better understanding of what a serving size is will prevent you from overeating and thus prevent you from gaining weight.

  • ONE SERVING OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES PER DAY.

When you start off your day, make sure you get one serving of fruit and one serving of veggies a day. The idea is to get your brain to start thinking about fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. As time goes on, increase the servings.

  • HAVE PROTEINS WITH ALL MEALS.

Proteins have many functions in the body such as building tissues and making enzymes and it also takes longer to digest making you feel fuller.

  • THINK BEFORE YOU EAT.

Take a minute before you decide on what to eat and evaluate, does that meal that you are about to eat have some fruits, vegetables and proteins? Are the portion sizes not too large? Are you going to enjoy that meal? You have to eat foods that you actually like the taste of.

  • EAT JUNK FOOD.

I know it’s hard for some people to believe this but it is good to eat junk food. Just do it in moderation and slowly decrease the amount of junk food you are eating over time. It is quite hard to stop eating foods that you love and you do not have to do that.

  • SHARE OR WRAP HALF TO GO.

When eating out, share a wrap up half the meal to go. Most restaurant foods are packed with fats that tend to be unhealthy and large amounts of sugar. By sharing or wrapping up half the meal you are not overeating and you are at least limiting the amount of unhealthy food you are putting in your body at one time.
