1. A DAY DOES NOT HAVE 24 HOURS.

While in school you were taught that there are 24 hours in a day. Well that is not technically correct. The earth spins on its axis for 23 hrs and 56 minutes. The reason the 4 extra minutes are added is because the distance that the earth orbits the sun is so great that it takes extra time for earth to face the sun again. Eventually the time will catch up and the day will last longer than 24 hours. This is because after every million year the earth spins slower and slower.

  • A GLITCH IN THE EARTH’S GRAVITY.

Hudson Bay is located in Canada and surprisingly it has an uneven mass and when there is uneven mass there is uneven gravity. There were glaciers in this area but they are melted. However the gravity problem remains on ice sheets under the earth’s crust. This has caused a lower gravity in Hudson Bay than anywhere else on earth.

  • HOW WAS THE OCEAN SALT CREATED.

Everyone knows that there is salt in the ocean but what most people don’t know is how this salt got there. The salt actually comes from the rocks at the shore of the ocean. Rain water is mainly acidic and this causes the rocks to break down. The components are afterwards released into the water. The water in the earth’s ocean is so dense that if you evaporate all the water in the ocean the salt will spread over the entire land 500 feet thick on everything.

  • THE EARTH HAD A TWIN.

There is an existing theory that there was a smaller twin planet nearby called “Theia” when earth was developing. Theia crushed into earth about 5 billion years ago and most of it was absorbed into the crust of the earth. The rest of it drifted off and eventually became our moon. The reason why most scientists believe this theory to be true is because planets that are the size of the earth don’t have moons that are large also the earth and the moon shares various matters.

  • THE EARTH IS HOT.

Many people believe that if the sun is to be permanently blocked by the clouds or if drifted away, we would not receive its heat and the human race would quickly become extinct but that may not be the case. The earth’s core is just as hot as the surface of the sun so if something tragic happened to the sun and we could be able to harness the energy from the core of the earth, we could keep the human race alive. Sure it will be dark outside but at least we will save humanity.

  • UNEXPLORED OCEANS.

A large percentage of the earth has been explored except for the ocean. Only about 10% of the ocean has been explored. Only 210,000 underwater creatures have been discovered and it is estimated that there are 20 million more that have not yet been discovered.

  • THERE ARE EXPLODING LAKES ON EARTH.

There are three lakes located near the border of Congo and they are often known as the exploding lakes. In 1984 a group of villagers were walking to work and a cloud of gas appeared and swallowed the villagers and carried them away leaving 37 of them dead instantly. It was discovered that the gas cloud was carbon dioxide and was formed as a result of explosion of the lakes. The reason they exploded was that they were located on volcanic mountains and these lakes still explode up to date.
